Weekend with the Parents

We were fortunate to have my parents come and stay with us for an extended weekend while they were here on business. We started off the weekend by participating in the annual UCP Walk. I've made a good friend at the gym that lost her son with Cerebral Palsy, so we walked for her son, James. It was a 3mile walk, downtown on the waterfront and we enjoyed the beautiful weather and scenery. My dad and I both felt it was pretty emotional to watch these families with children of varying disabilities. It definitely puts things in perspective; getting my 2 kids ready and out the door is not a real challenge. After the walk we went to the Street of Dreams (not as great as years past) and then out to dinner at Chevy's for my dad's birthday dinner. Happy Birthday to the greatest dad! Whew, it was a full, fun day!

The next day we drove out to the Tillamook Cheese Factory and enjoyed cheese samples and some of the best ice cream around.

We decided to take a detour on the way home and stopped to see the Cape Mears lighthouse. When we got out of the car we found this overly friendly squirrel and my dad fed it a piece of licorice. After that, we couldn't get rid of it and it was willing to eat right out of your hand. The crazy squirrel made me nervous and I didn't want the kids getting near it....they have diseases!

There's nothing like having your parents around. The kids were in heaven and loved all the special attention they received from their Mimi and Papa.


Per Carson's request (of course), we had to go bowling. We didn't think Holden would care much for bowling, but he LOVED it! He was so cute and would cheer and w0o-hoo after each turn.
